Program Description
The School Based Health Center utilize a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare in order to promote the health and well being of youth. The Health Centers, located at Alameda, Encinal and the CLCS High Schools, serve students from ASTI and Island High Schools as well. By offering free medical, mental health, health education and youth development services on school grounds, the Health Centers surmount barriers that can prevent youth from accessing care. The Health Centers’ focus on prevention and early identification of risk factors aims to reduce barriers to learning and to support families and our community.
Services Provided
The School Based Health Centers offer free and confidential medical care, mental health counseling, health education, and youth leadership opportunities. Medical Services are provided by Native American Health Center (NAHC).
Eligibility
Students attending any of the public high schools in Alameda are eligible to receive health center services at any site.
Intake Procedures
Students may call or drop in to the health centers during school hours to make an appointment.
Fees
All of the School Based Health Center services are free to students and their families. It is our policy to cover expenses by billing all possible third party sources. Students may be asked to register with Medi-Cal or Family Pact.

Funding Sources
Funding for the School Services Centers is provided by Alameda County Health Care Services Agency, Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services, Medi-Cal, Family Pact and CHDP. Alameda Unified School District, Alameda Hospital and numerous community groups provide donations and in-kind services.
